Sirius Tau
The primary star of the Sirius Tau system, infamous throughout the known Galaxy because the Complaints Division of the Sirius Cybernetics Corporation covers every major landmass of its first three inner planets.
Stellar Dossier: Sirius Tau
"The Nutri-Matic was designed and manufactured by the Sirius Cybernetics Corporation, whose complaints department now covers all the major land masses of the first three planets in the Sirius Tau star system."
— The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Chapter 17
Sirius Tau is a brilliant, cold white-blue binary star system situated in the Western Spiral Arm. While astrophysically unremarkable, it is notorious across all civilizations in the Galaxy as the administrative graveyard of consumer goodwill: the corporate headquarters of the Sirius Cybernetics Corporation Complaints Division.
Planetary Landmass Utilization: The First Three Planets
Due to the sheer catastrophe of the corporation's "Fundamental Design Philosophy"—which prioritized aggressive optimism, synthetic happiness, and Genuine People Personalities over actual functional engineering—customer feedback quickly outgrew conventional filing cabinets, office towers, and cities:
- Sirius Tau I (Intake & First-Tier Despair): Every continental landmass is completely paved over with multi-storey concrete intake terminals, receiving an estimated four billion angry hyper-sub-etha missives every microsecond regarding malfunctioning GPP sliding doors, depressed androids, and exploding elevators.
- Sirius Tau II (Appeals & Sullen Resignation): Dedicated entirely to processing secondary grievances from customers who were personally insulted by the automatic apologizer robots of Sirius Tau I.
- Sirius Tau III (The Frozen Unopened Mail): A permafrost world where hundreds of millions of cubic miles of unopened customer complaint letters and shattered Nutri-Matic tea dispensers are compressed under glacial ice sheets.
Corporate Geopolitics
Despite occupying three whole terrestrial worlds, the Complaints Division continues to petition the Sirius Cybernetics board of directors for annexation rights to Sirius Tau IV, warning that the upcoming rollout of the Mark II Happy-Chute Garbage Compactor will trigger unprecedented levels of planetary unrest.
Pansel
Star system containing the famine-struck land of Poghril, where 239,000 lightly fried eggs fell out of a microscopic, millions-of-light-years-long hole in the Galaxy.
The Sun (Sol)
A small unregarded yellow sun situated in the uncharted backwaters of the unfashionable end of the Western Spiral Arm, orbited at ninety-two million miles by Earth.
