Guide Entry: Squornshellous Zeta

Squornshellous Zeta is a cool, misty swamp world where the predominant form of sentient life is the mattress. The mattresses of Squornshellous Zeta spend the entirety of their quiet lives flolloping, volloping, and glurring across lush marsh beds.

  • Swamp-Grown Mattresses: All mattresses grown in the swamps of Sqornshellous Zeta (also spelled Squornshellous Zeta) are sentient, gentle creatures that spend their quiet lives flolloping, volloping, and glurring across lush marsh beds, every single one of whom is named Zem.
  • Thoroughly Killed and Dried: Before being put to service aboard interstellar vessels—such as the grubby mattresses in the Dentrassi sleeping quarters aboard Prostetnic Vogon Jeltz's Vogon Constructor Ship, which Arthur Dent prodded nervously before sitting down—all mattresses grown in the swamps of Sqornshellous Zeta are very thoroughly killed and dried. As the Guide notes reassuringly, "Very few have ever come to life again."
  • Atmosphere: Thick with soothing swamp ethers and moist vegetative spores that require standard hitchhiker bio-scrubbing.
