Fallia
A warm, lush wetland planet covered in aromatic moss calderas and misty bogs. Celebrated throughout the cosmos as the home of Fallian marsh gas and the fatal pleasure marshes.
Planet Dossier: Fallia
"Allow four litres of Fallian marsh gas to bubble through it, in memory of all those happy Hikers who have died of pleasure in the Marshes of Fallia."
— The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Chapter 2
Fallia is a tranquil, mist-shrouded wetland planet located in the outer quadrant of the Western Spiral Arm. Blessed with a low surface gravity of 0.82 G, mild geothermal heat, and a dense, oxygen-rich atmosphere perpetually saturated with sweet aromatic aerosols, Fallia is renowned as the Galaxy's premier botanical pleasure garden.
Planetary Biosphere & Flora
Unlike the drab, soggy marshes of Squornshellous Zeta where live mattresses dwell, the wetlands of Fallia are vibrant, colorful, and teeming with aromatic plant life:
- The Living Moss Mats: Enormous carpets of spongy, self-warming mosses blanket the lowlands, creating natural waterbeds that float over warm, bubbling thermal springs.
- The Gas-Emitting Calderas: Geothermal pressure forces pockets of organic Fallian Marsh Gas through the peat, releasing shimmering clouds of sparkling green vapor that carry natural mood-elevating terpenes.
The Legend of the Happy Hitchhikers
The planet's most famous geographic feature is The Marshes of Fallia, a vast wetland preserve where centuries of itinerant travelers have arrived, laid down their packs, and succumbed to absolute, terminal sensory bliss.
Zaphod Beeblebrox was so moved by the historical tales of these joyful martyrs that he officially mandated the inclusion of four litres of Fallian marsh gas into Step Four of the Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster recipe as an eternal galactic memorial.
Visiting Protocols & Safety Equipment
- Tether Mandate: Planetary entry authorities strongly advise all visitors to attach themselves to a reinforced steel guideline anchored to their landing shuttles before venturing out into the bogs.
- Towel Usage: Wrapping a damp Massively Useful Towel over the nose and mouth acts as a rudimentary filter, reducing the incoming pleasure aerosol to manageable levels and allowing researchers to conduct field surveys without bursting into tears of gratitude.
Eroticon Six
Sixth planet of the Eroticon system and famous homeworld of Eccentrica Gallumbits, the triple-breasted whore of Eroticon Six.
Jaglan Beta
A world in the Western Spiral Arm famed in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy for its cold moons—across which hitchhikers bound while wrapping a towel around themselves for warmth—as well as the Great Fornicate and the Lesser Fornicate.
